The County of San Luis Obispo and the Atascadero Friends of the Library engaged in a major collaboration to provide a new Library facility to serve the Atascadero community and created a convenient, one-stop service center for County services, the North County Government Center.

The Library occupies the first floor of the building while the second floor houses County offices and a some Library services. This facility replaced the old 7,748 square foot Martin Polin Regional Library located at 6850 Morro Road. This new Library provides 14,420 square feet of space, close to twice the space available in the old facility. The County’s service center occupies 6,831 square feet.

North County Government Center provides:

• Offices for the Building and Planning Departments

• Offices for the County Clerk and Assessor

• High density storage

• Conference rooms and regional offices for department heads

Ravatt Albrecht provided a full service multi-phase design which included: library facility programming, schematic design, design development, construction drawings, bidding, construction administration, and post occupancy evaluation. The library design incorporated sustainable materials and building systems.
