PROJECT OBJECTIVECreate a facility to house the County Board of Supervisors and three associated departments. PROJECT DESCRIPTIONRavatt Albrecht & Associates designed this new, two-story, 13,460 sq. ft., LEED Silver self-certified facility to fit congruently within an existing a business park. The design team worked diligently with the County through a series of design meetings to develop a functional building with spaces that meet the different functions of the Supervisors, support staff and other county services. Work included overcoming numerous site constraints that were addressed through the site master plan, which provides creative solutions for pedestrian access, security, and maintains access to adjacent County services. The interior design of the building was developed so the public portion of the building is an open layout that directs visitors toward the Supervisor’s meeting area, while private functions of the building are shielded from public view. Additionally, the auditorium was designed to minimize reverberation and maximize sound attenuation, providing a sophisticated space that will be exceptional for sound recording and multimedia presentations. The result is a two-story building that not only addresses the needs of its users, but also provides an environmentally responsible solution for the site. Originally intended and designed to support the public hearings and meetings of the County government, due to economic constraints the building design was adapted to include a North County Emergency Operations Center and computer center.
