PROJECT OBJECTIVERenovate 27,400 sq. ft. of space in an existing portion of Building 3 at NMCSD to support the new prosthetics program. PROJECT DESCRIPTIONRavatt Albrecht & Associates provided design and engineering for the renovation of a $5M, LEED self-certified, award-winning space in Building 3 at Balboa Naval Medical Center. The renovations accommodated the new prosthetics program and specialized medical services for returning American soldiers. Work included coordination of all design, demolition, preconstruction, construction, and close-out for this fast-track project. The result is upgrade to upgrades to approximately 23,000 sq. ft. of interior space for ADA accessibility and to include the addition of a new Prosthetic Lab; ADL training facilities; and Gait Lab to accommodate occupational therapy, physical therapy, ADL training, physical and rehabilitative medicine with advanced prosthetic support, social services and vocational rehabilitative counseling. The Center’s approximately 3,500 sq. ft. of courtyard space serves as an Uneven Terrain training area.
