PROJECT OBJECTIVECreate a cost-effective, sustainable residence that maximizes outdoor living on an ocean-view lot. PROJECT DESCRIPTIONRavatt Albrecht & Associates designed this new ** sq. ft. residence on a ** sq. ft. site in a manner that would maximize outdoor living on a small, constrained site. Work included creative design that maximized space within the site’s setbacks. The result is a home infused with materials that match function in the most cost-effective, sustainable manner possible. The exterior walls make up the “box” and are constructed with concrete walls and plaster following the rectangular shape of the site. The curved elements of the living space and food preparation areas are the “rocks” within the “box” and are wood-clad with sustainable IPE. Green building strategies included the use of countertops made from recycled paper, bamboo cabinets and doors, and drought tolerant native landscaping.
