PROJECT OBJECTIVEProvide a new Blind Rehabilitation Center that consists of various clinical departments. PROJECT DESCRIPTIONRavatt Albrecht & Associates’ design-build team designed and constructed this new Veterans Affairs Blind Rehabilitation Center with the client’s goals and the end user in mind. The team managed the design, manufacturing, delivery, set-up, and final build-out of the approximately 45,000 sq. ft. of pre-engineered module structures on a 3-acre vacant site surrounded by existing, functioning buildings. Work included design, implementation, and installation of the electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems; a telecommunications and data system; a voice activated fire alarm system; a wet fire sprinkler system; and a security/intrusion alarm system. The parking lot was renovated to connect with the adjacent buildings and new parking, outdoor recreational areas, and ADA access routes. The result is a new Blind Rehabilitation Center with space for various clinical departments, including nursing, therapy, residential, and support spaces that meet the users’ needs as well as all governing industry-wide codes and standards.
