RA honored at USGBC C4 Green Awards
On Friday December 2, 2011, Ravatt Albrecht was honored by the USGBC Central Coast of California Chapter at their annual Green Awards. RA was awarded an Honorable Mention for the pending LEED Platinum Certified Bachelor Enlisted Quarters at Naval Base San Diego's San Clemente Island. This $26 Million project is estimated to be completed on March 27 of this coming year. RA teamed with contractor Stronghold Engineering Inc of Riverside, CA to design and build this LEED Platinum building for the United States Department of the Navy. This building incorporates a Photovoltaic Energy Generation System as well as Wind Energy Electrical Power Generation Equipment in order for the building to be almost completely off grid. The plumbing system of the building is run with a Solar Domestic Hot Water System accompanied by a Dual Plumbing Grey Water System. The building performs extremely well and provides the enlisted naval service men and women with a clean and comfortable building to call home.
"This is an extreme honor to be mentioned among such a powerful group of sustainable leaders", stated RA's Andrew Goodwin. Andrew Goodwin, one of RA's Project Managers and LEED APs, was on hand to accept the award for the many number of individuals involved in this project.
"We pride ourselves in being able to help the Department of the Navy with upgrading the government's existing and new buildings to be as sustainable as possible. As large as this project is, we hope that this shows that even bigger developments can push the limits of sustainability within the government sector", Andrew commented.
RA thanks all team members that were and still are involved in this project. They have done a tremendous job.
